Nursing is taking over my soul

Something has happened to me. I went to Rosedale and happened to walk in the entrance right next to a uniform store. I freaked out! What I once would have done with shoes or good fashion, I found myself doing over $9.99 scrubs. My heart went a flutter and I got giddy. Ooh they have that style in a flower pattern? Elastic waist bands? Matching jackets? I'm sold!

I'm scared. What happens when floral prints turn into teddy bear prints? Or worse - Americana/blue jeans/teddy bears/flags prints? There is actually a gross scrubs brand named Baby Phat. Its symbol is a skinny, (sexy?) kitten that is featured prominently on all pieces of clothing.

So here is a top ten list for my nursing friends. (Yes, my humor is also going down the toilet. What can I say?)

Top ten reasons to become a nurse:

1) Pays better then fast food, though the hours aren't as good.
2) Fashionable shoes and sexy white uniforms.
3) Needles: "Tis better to give than receive"
4) Reassure your patients that all bleeding stops...eventually.
5) Expose yourself to rare, exciting and new diseases.
6) Interesting aromas.
7) Courteous and infallible doctors who always leave clear orders in perfectly legible handwriting.
8) Do enough charting to navigate around the world.
9) Celebrate all the holidays with your friends- at work.
10) Take comfort that most of your patients survive no matter what you do to them.

(OK the last one just isn't true on BMT. But whatevs.)

Ah! You make nursing sound so much more depressing than it really is!
