mo' bloggin noggin
Hey folks! So for those who aren't reading it yet, we've got a meat blog going on!
Many Meals of Mitch's Meat!
The gist is a bunch of us bought a third of a cow from Mitch's dad, divvied it up, and are now documenting the tasty creations we make from it. It's good fun. Check us out!
In other news, I may be even closer to getting off night shifts! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!! See, as of right now I work days and nights at the hospital which, to put it frankly, sucks butt. The problem is that I cannot move from my shift until (a) some other new grad sap takes my place on nights and (b) some senior-ranking nurse decides she doesn't want her sweet, sleep-at-night-like-a-normal-person shift. This is made even more difficult by our hiring freeze that is extending until God only knows when.
The sun may be shining a little brighter though because for some strange reason we DID hire one new grad (who happens to be Michelle, who is friends of friends of Julia) who is taking a straight nights position. This didn't really mean a whole lot until I found out last night that our favorite Nurse Marcia is now retiring! We will definitely miss her. She has worked on 7C since 1986! She has more knowledge about our patients and how to care for them than I can even fathom. She also holds a day/evening position. So while I'm sad to see her go, I'm also hoping I can switch to a work schedule that is less taxing on my psyche. The only thing to figure out is if this will indeed open something up for us new grads that hate working nights and which one of us will have the most seniority to be the lucky nurse. Cross your fingers for me people!
And I will close out this blog with a fantastic cartoon from the This American Life live broadcast I saw last month. It's about a mouse that falls in love with a severed cat head. Holy cow that was an amazing show! If you weren't able to go, let this give you a sneak peak and a strong desire to not miss it next year... (yes, I may be speaking directly to Phil and Sam here)

You saw it live?? Nice! I'm going to Chicago in July and wanted to catch an NPR show live, but it won't be there when I am :(
And I saw this cartoon a month or so ago; it freaks me out. That poor severed head.
